CIPC news December 2023

CIBA is recognised by CIPC and authorised to regulate accounting officers, independent reviewers, and business rescue practitioners.

As a stakeholder, CIBA represents members on the CIPC stakeholder liaison committee.  We provide member feedback to CIPC and advise CIPC on how they can improve their services to members.

CIBA also brings you regular updates on essential news on regulators, including CIPC. In the first half of December, CIPC issued various notices that practitioners need to know. The topics concern CIPC’s efforts to strengthen data security measures and the importance of up-to-date beneficial ownership information when submitting annual returns.

Topics covered during our December update include:

  1. New identity verification and multifactor authentication for directors’ amendments effective from 4 December
  2. Registering trade mark rights: a step-by-step guide for SMMEs
  3. There is a new beneficial ownership interface when filing annual reports. Starting 11 December, companies and close corporations need to ensure their beneficial ownership filing is up to date before they can submit their Annual Returns.
  4. CIPC will be closed to the public from 10h00 on Friday, 22 December 2023, up to and including Monday, 1 January 2024. Certain offices will open on Tuesday, 2 January.
