New Functionality Released: Securities & Beneficial Interest Register

CIPC Notice 40 was issued on 18 July 2023 announcing the release of enhancements to the Beneficial Ownership functionality which now includes the integrated upload capability of the securities/members register and/ or beneficial interest register where applicable. This functionality is applicable to entities (affected companies or non-affected companies) that have no beneficial ownership information to declare.

Reporting requirements

Existing companies are required to submit information on beneficial ownership to CIPC in line with the Annual Returns anniversary date, but before 1 October 2023.

Companies formed after 24 May 2023 need to submit their beneficial ownership information within 10 days of the incorporation.

The filling of Beneficial Ownership (BO) Information functionality is available on www.cipc.co.za under e-Services, and additional information on how to file; frequently asked questions and other guidance documents are available on the CIPC website.
