SARS releases the preliminary trade statistics for June 2022

SARS released trade statistics for June 2022 recording a preliminary trade balance surplus of R24.23 billion attributable to exports of R184.61 billion and imports of R160.38 billion. The same surplus recorded in June 2021 was R49.54 billion.

The year-to-date (01 January to 30 June 2022) preliminary trade balance surplus of R133.52 billion is a deterioration from the R249.86 billion trade balance surplus for the comparable period in 2021. Exports increased by 16.7% year-on-year whilst imports increased by 47.6% over the same period.
