During August 2022 SAIBA conducted a survey to access the impact that the SARS strike had on their businesses. Finding of the survey are now available in the document attached below. Key challenges included:
- Lack of communication posed the biggest challenge
- Highest level of frustration was experienced due to lack of assistance from SARS staff members, including missing appointments and delayed feedback
- Vast majority of respondents experienced financial losses up to R10,000 or more
In addition, the aftermath of the strike with practitioners left to deal with the backlog of returns and other submissions requiring additional time and costs.
SAIBA urges all stakeholders to not pose additional strain on tax practitioners and resolve outstanding matters with due care.
