DESCRIPTION
The public sector is highly regulated. As opposed to the private sector, the laws and regulations that govern the financial management of public funds require that actions are only taken by government if they are compliant with prescripts.Â
Effective financial management in the public sector demands that all role players, especially public sector employees, understand and can apply the concepts of good governance in an ethical manner. The application of good governance must be a daily activity in every role and at every level. It is critical that all public servants understand the ethical landscape of working in the public sector, and how to identify and respond to the ethical dilemmas that public servants are faced with on a daily basis.
