Arend earned his BCom from the University of the Free State and completed his articles at PriceWaterhouseCoopers in 2000, where he showcased his prowess in software by becoming a Pastel Certified Professional. He worked in the finance department of Murray & Roberts and served as an Accountant for 8 years.
