CIPC Notice 26 addressing concerns relating to the Online verification of CIPC disclosure certificates

The Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) received numerous complaints that CIPC documents (web disclosures, confirmation letters, and registration certificates) when presented to other institutions, are not always accepted. Notice 26 was issued on 8 May 2023 addressing these concerns.

A full disclosure certificate can be obtained via the CIPC website, at the cost of R30 which provides the requestor with full details of the company or close corporation governance structure as well as the entity’s history. These disclosure certificates will assure institutions and individual CIPC customers that the certificates presented are authentic and confirm and verify entities’ information against the CIPC records.

Step-by-step guides are available on the CIPC website, detailing the process to request a free (shortened) or full (official use) disclosure.
