At the second edition of the Egypt International Cooperation Forum in Cairo, Egypt, African ministers, and senior government officials call for early adoption of environmental and sustainability Standards by African jurisdictions and companies.
The communique also encourages the ISSB to work closely with African stakeholders and to provide strong advisory and capacity building support to achieve early adoption of the ISSB’s Standards in Africa. Implementation of standards need to consider the special needs and circumstances of Africa, in relation to low energy access, increasing debt distress, climate induced displacement and socio-economic impacts, and accessibility to climate finance, and Africa needs to achieve social and economic development and eradicate poverty.
